Breaking barriers - Aventus Accountants and Business Services work with Stanmore College enhance social mobility

Wednesday, 3rd February saw Sarbdip Noonan, Principal of Stanmore College, receive five new laptops courtesy of Aventus from Aman Singh, Managing Director and Meesha Shah, Director of Client Services.

One lucky existing Stanmore student, Namra Asghar, was present to be the first to receive one of the laptops and expressed her appreciation. Namra, who achieved a Distinction in her last exam, told us ‘I was delighted to receive a laptop from Aventus even though I’m a 17-year-old student and not working there; it will help me to participate in class, complete practice papers and revise. I was also told that there will be an opportunity to gain experience there post Covid-19; I can’t wait.’

College Principal, Sarbdip Noonan, commented “We are extremely grateful for the generous support of Aventus, to help our more disadvantaged students to have access to modern IT, and thus ensure they will be successful in their course. We are delighted to work closely with employers in close partnership, so that we meet the needs of local companies and allow college students to become skilled and prepared for working in the modern world.”

Yet the company’s multi-faceted approach to social mobility is breaking new ground. Aventus is helping to provide a route to financially secure futures through education at Stanmore College and employment at the company. Together with the College this vision is becoming a reality.

Vik Seeborun Head of STEM and accounting (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at the College expressed his appreciation on behalf of the learners.

Not only have five former Stanmore College students become employees at Aventus, further real-life jobs and accountancy apprenticeships are emerging for Stanmore students there too.
