The Applied Science BTEC First Award Level 2 is about the principles and applications of Applied Science. If you see yourself in a laboratory as a scientist, and you have a curiosity to explore and understand the many facets of science, then this is the course for you.
The qualification will give you the knowledge and understanding of key scientific principles that are vital for both scientists today and in the future. The course will give you the skills to progress to further study in science or technology or employment.
Alongside a broad understanding of how science principles are applied in practice, you will develop a range of skills and techniques that are essential for a career in science based practices.
This course is suitable if you are completing the programme of study via an academic route, such as GCSE Science, and you want a vocational learning route for further progression or employment.

You can progress to further study in BTEC Level 3 in applied science, engineering, or health sciences.
- Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade 3 in either English or Maths.
- Assessment
6 units are internally assessed.
2 units are externally assessed.
