Stanmore College Coronation Celebrations Fit for a King

Over 700 Stanmore College students and members of staff had the pleasure of opening its doors to welcome members of the community to Afternoon Tea on Friday, 5th May to celebrate the historic event of the Coronation of King Charles III prior to the long Bank holiday weekend. Attendees enjoyed a host of activities which included having selfies taken alongside a life size cut out of the King himself, crowns galore, cakes, traditional scones with jam and cream, savouries, bites and a variety of hot and cold drinks.

The College hosted the celebrations for everyone to feel part of history in the making. The atmosphere was joyous, and it provided an excellent opportunity for community cohesion. Comments from students included “it’s great, lovely food and just bringing everyone together” and “it’s got me in form to celebrate and I’m looking forward to watching a Coronation live in my lifetime” and those from residents who live near the campus included “I loved the invitation and it’s great to be able to attend a Coronation celebration locally and meet new people” and “I’m enjoying watching all the students have fun and on this historic occasion”.

The day also showed great pride in British Values and it was wonderful to make coronation memories with such great community members and the future generation of young people who did the college proud.
