Stanmore Studios attends Awards Ceremony
Stanmore Studios attends the Manga Jiman Awards Ceremony hosted by the Japanese Embassy in Central London.
On 14th March a group of students from Level 3 Creative Media and Level 3 Animation & Game Design ventured in to Central London to attend the annual Manga Jiman Awards Ceremony, hosted at the Japanese Embassy.
Manga Jiman is a short story told across 6 to 8 pages for anyone aged 14 or over. The yearly competition strives to discover top entries spanning a wide range of styles, from graphic novelists and storytellers to comic artists and manga-ka. This year’s theme was SPIRIT which had to be referenced in entries submitted into the competition. Winners of the competition have received fantastic prizes from original manga and animation cells, to cameras and Japanese snacks and gifts! Winning entries are displayed at the Embassy.
The event was a great opportunity for the young budding creatives to connect with other like-minded artists and practitioners in a real-world setting while celebrating the creativity of the Manga Jiman competition entrants, which were on full display with an open exhibition.
Student Romeo shared his excitement about the event, saying, “The Manga Jiman event was amazing! Networking in a professional environment was incredibly valuable and could open doors to some fantastic opportunities in the future. I left feeling inspired and motivated to improve so I can take part next year!“
The College and the Media Department would like to extend a special thanks to our industry partners at Mayamada for inviting our students to take part in this prestigious and invaluable experience.
