Within every educational institution, a large part of the workforce is made up of staff who support the teaching and learning of students. The presence and specific expertise of support staff is highly valued by teachers and students alike, both enhancing the learning experience for pupils and reinforcing the work of educators.

This qualification focuses on providing learners with the key information needed to effectively support teaching staff throughout an educational institution, including understanding the development of children and young people, how to promote positive behaviour, supporting learning activities and ensuring the well-being and safety of students.

This course is suitable for anyone currently working, within the education sector, in order to increase their understanding of ways in which they can provide effective and valuable support to educators and students alike.

2: Understand how to safeguard the well-being of children and young people
3: Support children and young people’s health and safety
4: Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
5: Support learning activities
6: Promote children and young people’s positive behaviour
7: Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults
8: Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
9: Support assessment for learning
10: Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
11: Schools as organisations.
