The UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design is a one-year, practical, work-related course equivalent to 4 GCSEs. You will study projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations. The course focuses on developing problem-solving abilities and practical skills across 2D, 3D, and lens-based digital disciplines. You will explore drawing, painting, printmaking, architecture, model making, product design, graphics, photography, and animation, alongside studying art history, materials, techniques, and critical thinking.
You’ll also work on functional skills or GCSEs in maths and English, ensuring a well-rounded foundation.

Entry Requirements 4 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English, with evidence of creative work to be presented at the interview.

Assessment All units for the main award are delivered through briefs and workshops, with no exams. However, exams are required for functional skills and GCSE qualifications.

Materials You will need to purchase sketchbooks for your units and a range of art materials throughout the year. There will also be a fee for museum visits organised by the department.
