Additional Information

Lisa, Railway Engineering Skills Bootcamp

After being made redundant, I knew I needed a more secure, long-term career. Jobcentre Plus recommended the rail industry, and I decided to I enrol on the Rail Engineering Bootcamp at Stanmore College. The course has boosted my confidence and introduced me to new practical skills, from using a rail drill to starting a generator. Even with my experience as a steel fixer on HS2 (High Speed Rail Network), this training has really broadened my knowledge. Meeting employers has been a highlight, they take our progress seriously and offer valuable insight. If you’re considering this course, I’d say go for it. It’s a solid pathway into the rail industry, and I’ve seen women work their way up through the ranks. I’m confident I’ll be one of them.

Isaiah, Rail Engineering Skills Bootcamp

I joined this programme after completing my PTS (Personal Track Safety) course because I wanted more hands-on experience. The Rail Engineering Bootcamp has helped me work with new tools, refresh my knowledge, and take real steps toward employment in the rail industry. Meeting employers has been a highlight, it’s a great chance to network and build confidence. The tutor has been excellent, combining solid theory with practical skills that are directly relevant to the job. My advice to anyone considering the Bootcamp is simple: go for it. It’s a strong foundation for getting shifts, gaining experience, and opening doors in the rail sector.

Jenny, Rail Engineering Skills Bootcamp

I joined the Stanmore Rail Engineering Bootcamp, funded by the Mayor of London, to gain real hands-on experience in the rail industry. My background in theatre and retail built my communication skills, but I wanted a more practical, physical career where I could learn by doing. My goal is to work with National Rail and support the HS2 (High Speed Rail Network) project. The bootcamp has given me essential skills in track maintenance, rail infrastructure, and working with real equipment. Our tutor, has been incredibly supportive, meeting and visiting employers has been motivating. The group has been welcoming and diverse from day one. This course has boosted my confidence and helped me step out of my comfort zone. My advice: come with a clear goal and stay focused. It’s a fantastic opportunity, and I’m grateful to be part of it.
