Course Content

If you want to do a course that does not limit your journey in what you want to in future and gives you the opportunity to explore and be creative yet learn exponential transferable skills, then this is the course for you.
Equivalent in size to one A Level. 4 units of which 3 are mandatory and 2 are external. The learning programme covers the following content areas:
- business environments
- finance
- marketing.
The optional units have been designed to support choices in progression to business courses in
higher education and to link with relevant occupational areas:
- human resources
- accounting
- marketing
- law
For this qualification, learners will need to complete all the mandatory units and, where appropriate, a selection of optional specialist units. This is to ensure that all learners have broad and balanced coverage of the vocational sector.
This qualification is aimed at learners aged 16-19-years old.
Course Outcomes
The qualification aims to provide a wide-ranging study of the sector. It is primarily designed for learners studying full time in the 16–19 age group, who wish to pursue a career in business, primarily via higher education to access graduate entry employment with businesses, or alternatively through junior business employment in either Business Administration or Management, or their corresponding apprenticeships.
Progression
The qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers. After this qualification, learners can also progress directly into employment. Learners can also benefit from opportunities for deep learning where they are able to make connections among units and select areas of interest for detailed study.
Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs grades 4 or above and 2 GCSEs grades 3 and above including English and Maths or Level 2 qualification in Business.
Assessment
The qualification has mandatory and optional specialist units.
- 25 percent of the qualification that is externally assessed; Pearson sets and marks these assessments
- 75 percent of the qualification is graded from Level 3 Pass, L3 Merit to Level 3 Distinction.
