Course Content

A course intended for anyone with an interest in the creative media industry, particularly in Television, Film production and Post-production editing. The work that makes up the course is mostly practical, with some theoretical and critical analysis and the planning and production of various visual pieces using industry standard processes and software.

Students will learn the fundamentals of genre and practical techniques in the first year, with team-based assignments challenging them to produce original music, videos, adverts, short films and documentaries.

The second year has students move on to more advanced filmmaking techniques and critical analysis, where they study social campaigns and how to create effective marketing materials using their skillset. Both years will finish with a Final Major Project; a chance for every student to choose and create their own original project, making use of everything they have learnt.

There is a heavy focus on developing students' understanding of visual language, with opportunities to practice mise-en-scene and cinematography techniques throughout the course. In addition, students will have the chance to work to live project briefs from external clients and develop a portfolio of work that will take them in to university or the industry.

Software students will learn includes the Adobe Suite, specifically:

  • Premiere Pro
  • Audition
  • After Effects
