The OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Certificate in Business is a vocational qualification that provides foundational knowledge and skills in business. The course outline generally includes:

Entry requirements  

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. It is recommended that learners have, or are working towards, a grade 4/grade C or above in maths and English GCSEs.

Who is the OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Certificate in Business Administration for? 

This qualification is for learners who are 16 years old or over, and who want to apply their skills and knowledge in business administration. It will equip them with the essential skills and knowledge required to progress onto: - other related qualifications such as the OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Business Administration, the OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Business - related apprenticeships such as a business administrator apprenticeship - a business-related job role, such as an administrative assistant or a receptionist. It will also enable learners to acquire a range of transferable skills and knowledge, which are highly regarded by employers. We have worked with employers who have helped us include the transferable skills, knowledge and understanding that they are looking for in prospective applicants. The qualification is designed to be taken as part of a study programme alongside other vocational qualifications, GCSE resits or A-Levels. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, but, ideally, learners will typically have or be working towards GCSEs at grade 4/grade C or above including maths and English.

Is this qualification right for my learners?  

This qualification is part of a suite of OCR Cambridge Technical in Business at Levels 2 and 3. It takes 360 guided learning hours to achieve – this means that it can be taken in one year, forming the majority of a study programme. Normally learners would take this qualification because they are aged 16 years or over, in full-time education, but aren’t quite ready to study a Level 3 qualification in this sector at this stage. The qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress onto a Level 3 Tech Level qualification in the business sector, or into employment, either directly or through a Business Administrator Apprenticeship.

Assessment

The OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Certificate in Business is typically assessed through: 

  • Internal Assessments: Coursework and practical assignments evaluated by the instructor. 
  • Externally Assessed Exams: Written exams that test knowledge and understanding of business concepts. 
  • Portfolio of Evidence: Collection of work demonstrating skills and knowledge applied in various tasks. 

These methods ensure a comprehensive evaluation of both practical and theoretical business skills. 

Examination resits 

Learners can resit an examined unit once before they complete the qualification. 

Repeat submission of learner’s work 

If you and the learner feel they haven’t performed at their best during the assessment, the learner can, at your discretion, improve their work and resubmit it to you for assessment. You must follow our requirements on authenticity and feedback in section 8. 

Employer engagement 

This is not a requirement for the Certificate but it may help to engage and motivate learners.
