Course outline 

This course is perfect if you are working in sustainable resource management and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised. 

You could also be completing your apprenticeship or are an entrant into the Waste Management and Recycling industry. 

This is also an ideal course for existing employees seeking to improve their knowledge and understanding of the principles of resource management. 

You will learn: 

  • Principles of waste/recycling industries 
  • Principles of identifying and classifying waste 
  • Waste and recycling technologies 
  • Waste and recycling permitting and legislations 

You can expect an initial assessment, induction, proactive and practical lessons and assessment. 

Entry requirements  

There are no formal entry requirements but you will undertake an initial assessment to ensure this is the right course for you. 

What can it lead to/ Progression?  

On completion of these qualifications candidates may progress into employment or to the following City & Guilds qualifications: 

  • Level 2 Certificate for Sustainable Waste Management 
  • Level 3 Diploma for Waste Supervisor 
  • Level 2 Diploma for Sustainable Recycling Activities 
  • Level 3 Diploma for Sustainable Recycling Activities 

In addition, candidates who enjoy leading teams of people at work could also move onto a qualification such as a Team Leader or Supervisor such as qualifications at Levels 2, 3 and 4 through the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) as a Team Leader or Supervisor.
