Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care

This two year course leads to a nationally recognised qualification. It comprises 18 units of health, psychology and science subjects. The theoretical component is usually completed over four college days per week, with one day per week and two 1 week block placements in each year within a work setting. Students will gain work experience in both adult and childcare settings during their course.
Additional Studies Students will have the opportunity to retake GCSE Mathematics or additional studies as available.

Why do this course?
Employment in care settings or higher education including courses such as social work, nursing and the professions allied to medical care.
Extra Curricular Activities All students can add to their main programme of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Education and employment.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English and maths. Diploma at Merit and GCSE grade 4 (C) in English. (Exceptions to entry requirements onto our level 3 qualifications may be considered)

Assessment
Assessment is by internally and externally assessed assignments and a satisfactory work experience portfolio. There is no final examination.
