Football Academy Programme

This collaborative project allows students aged 16+ to benefit from the unique opportunity of having an academic-led post-16 education and being able to gain GCSE, NCFE, BTEC or T-level qualification from level 1 to level 5, alongside a full programme of professional football coaching. Student will have an opportunity to represent Stanmore and Chelsea FC Foundation in competitive fixtures in the ECFA and Tactic leagues.

Our football programmes offer UEFA licensed coaches, and experienced teachers who have designed a curriculum that will offer students the practical and academic knowledge to succeed whatever their intended exit routes may be. Our aim is to offer unique opportunities for people in the wider community using sport as a lens to educate and develop the next generation workforce. Our strategic approach to service the sports industry includes pathways into universities, playing recreationally, semi-professionally or professionally, coaching employment and US scholarships.

September 2023 sees Stanmore College and Chelsea Football Club's Foundation Launch its Football Academy Programme's on our Northwest London and South London sites. These programmes are based on site at Stanmore College and on our satellite site at the National Sports Centre in Crystal Palace.

Some of the pathways we offer:

  • Coaching (elite, participation recreation)
  • Specialist coaching (i.e. Strength and Conditioning, elite or rehabilitation)
  • Sports psychology
  • Sports analysis
  • Physiotherapy
  • Sports nutrition
  • Personal training
  • Leisure industry jobs
  • Events management
  • Sports business and management

Want to study something other than sport?

Beyond the sporting industry these collaborative programmes also offer opportunities to all, where enrichment programmes are designed to break down barriers for participation, increase opportunities and widen the curriculum for our students. Our football for all approach is aimed at offering these enrichment opportunities beyond our specialist sports courses, where our students will be able to access quality coaching enrichment whatever they chose to study. Students can benefit from these activities whilst pursuing as career and undertaking a wide range of diverse and bespoke courses offered here at Stanmore College.

Additionally, the college will be working closely with other local businesses and industries to offer a unique learning experience while our students enjoy their sporting enrichment and prepare them for the working world.

Unique to Stanmore

Year 11, looking for options? Why choose Stanmore college?

Our students will have the opportunity to participate in both domestic and international trips and tours, providing a package of unique and enriching experiences that cannot be found beyond our courses.

We offer Year 11 learners the opportunity to undertake taster sessions at our Y11 development centres, both in Stanmore and at the National Sports Centre, these run each term across the academic year

Working towards your GCSE's? We also offer Year 11 GCSE support sessions on both sites for those who are part of the development sessions.

At Stanmore, we prioritise the well-being and success of our students. Our comprehensive programmes include bursary and pastoral support, as well as safeguarding and support teams that are available to assist with any needs that may arise.

Alongside our football programmes we also offer multi-support coaching enrichment for the whole college.
So, if you enjoy sport but do not want to have a career in sport, this could still be for you.
