The UAL Animation and Games Design, rReative Media Productiom, Level 3 Extended Diploma course is ideal if you have an interest in the creative media industry, especially in games, animation, and visual effects. You’ll focus on practical work while also developing your theoretical and critical analysis skills. Over the course, you’ll plan and produce 2D and 3D animations and games using industry-standard processes and software.
In your first year, you’ll learn the basics of 2D animation and game design through team-based assignments, creating original animated shorts and 2D game prototypes. In the second year, you’ll move on to 3D, studying 3D modelling and animation and learning how to code 3D games using Unity. Both years will finish with a Final Major Project, where you’ll create your own original project, bringing together all the skills you’ve developed. There’s a strong focus on improving your artistic skills with weekly art classes as part of the course.
You’ll also get the chance to work on live project briefs from external clients, helping you build a professional portfolio for university or entry into the creative media industry. You’ll use industry-standard software throughout the course, including Adobe Animate, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere Pro, Construct 3, Blender, and Unity Engine. By the end of the course, you’ll achieve an Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A-C), including English, or a full Level 2 Diploma alongside GCSE English or Level 2 Functional Skills in Literacy. Exceptions to these entry requirements for Level 3 qualifications may be considered. -
