SEND /
Foundation Learning
Our SEND / Foundation Learning courses support learners with mild to moderate learning difficulties through small class sizes, personalised support and a structured, nurturing environment.
With a focus on practical learning and real-life skills such as travel training, budgeting, teamwork and workplace readiness, you’ll build confidence, independence and the skills needed for further education, employment or independent living.

What does SEND mean?
SEND: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, supporting learners with a range of additional needs to access education and develop essential life and work skills.

Is a SEND/Foundation Learning pathway for you?
You have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This plan, provided by the local council, outlines the additional support you need. Our dedicated teams will ensure this support is in place throughout your course.
You’re aged 16–24 and have an EHCP. You can apply for our SEND courses (see below) or for other 16–18 courses we offer. We look at each application individually to make sure you are placed on the course and pathway that best match your goals.
You are willing to take on work opportunities to experience work life. You will have the opportunity to go on educational trips, attend talks, and visit employers with opportunities to learn about work life.
You want the best possible education journey. Your individual needs and goals are at the heart of our programme. We offer personalised support and clear progression pathways that recognise and celebrate you, for your unique strengths and aspirations. -
What support is offered for Students with Additional Needs?
Our SEND Department offers specialist learning support for students with additional needs, including specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia), sensory impairments, and physical disabilities.
If you have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), our SEND Learning Support Team will work closely with you to provide tailored assistance aligned with your plan.
