Course Content

This course is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and training to become an IT specialist. It provides the opportunity to go into employment within the IT sector or to progress to higher qualifications in Computing and ICT at university. You will develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in your working life as an IT professional. Furthermore, the course is designed to give you an excellent grounding in a wide range of computing and IT applications, so you have a good all-round understanding of the use of IT in modern society.

Progression

The BTEC IT Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Information Technology is equivalent to three A Levels. On completion of the course, you will gain a nationally recognised qualification which will equip you for work in the Computing and IT sectors, or prepare you for further study at university. You may want to specialise in one of the areas of Computing and IT you have studied in the BTEC programme, such as web-design, computer programming, graphics or e-commerce.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade C/4 including Maths and English. Alternatively, Level 2 BTEC Certificate/Extended Certificate in IT at Merit grade including Maths and English at grade C/4.

(Exceptions to entry requirements onto our level 3 qualifications may be considered)

Assessment

Assignments, teamwork, presentation.

Equipment

You will be provided the basic at the college. However, you need to buy some books for study.
