Course Content

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is a part time 1 year course which will give you an opportunity to improve your English. You will also develop skills in maths. The qualification is designed to help you increase independence, as well as develop the language skills you need for everyday life, employment, and further studies.

You will develop skills in Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing.

The course is aimed at adults, who are resident in the UK and need to improve their English so can develop the language skills they need for everyday life, employment, and further studies.

Content includes:

  • English (Speaking and listening, Reading, and Writing) Pre- Entry – Level 2
  • Manging Money

Course Outcomes

  • Award in ESOL Skills for Life( Speaking and listening, Reading, and Writing)
  • Get on a part time course next September
  • Get part time or full -time employment
  • Talk to teachers, employers and officials and understand the customs of the UK

As well as English, you will also improve your Maths and study some other topics which may include Healthy Eating and Lifestyle, Travel, Citizenship, Beauty, Digital Parenting and Employability.

Entry Requirements

  • Be a resident in the UK
  • Be assessed at interview

Assessment

You will have exams and gain a recognised qualification from the English Speaking Board (ESB).

Interview?

Before you can enrol on an ESOL course you need to attend an assessment to determine your level. Your level of English will be determined by your previous qualifications in ESOL, as well as a reading and writing assessment and an interview.
