Course Content

The course aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding of core subject areas in health and social care, in order to support progression to further learning or the workplace. Students are encouraged to attend work placement in order to support their learning. We recommend 30 hours of placement in a Real Work Environment.

Students must achieve the unit assessments for the 18 mandatory units.

Course Outcomes

Upon achievement of this qualification, students will be able to progress onto further learning (Higher Education) or to employment within the health and social care sector. 

Progression

This course can be viewed as the foundation course on which to build a successful career in Heath and/or Social Care; possible future careers include: Nursing (Adult and Paediatric), Midwifery, all aspects of Psychology (Counselling, Clinical, Occupational and Educational), Social Work and Criminology to name a few.

Entry Requirements

Students must be at least 19+ years old.

Assessment

Students will be required to produce a written piece of work as well as undertake our Initial Skills Assessment in Maths and English
