Construction T Level Students Begin Their Industry Placement Journey

T Level Construction students took part in an industry placement induction with Bouygues UK, developing their understanding of workplace expectations, employability skills and opportunities within the construction industry.

T Level Construction students recently took part in an industry placement induction session delivered by Paula Arkell -Waller M.A RCDP, Deputy Employment & Skills Manager at Bouygues UK.

The session gave students a valuable introduction to T Levels, industry placements and the expectations of working with employers. Paula explained how T Levels combine classroom learning with practical industry experience, and how placements can help students develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in a professional environment.

Preparing for the workplace

A key focus of the session was helping students understand what will be expected of them during their industry placement. They explored the importance of professionalism, commitment and communication, as well as taking responsibility for making the most of the opportunities available to them.

Students also learned more about the industry placement opportunities available through their programme, including placements hosted by Bouygues UK. This gave them an insight into the workplace experience they can gain as part of their T Level and the range of opportunities available within the construction industry.

Developing employability skills

The session also covered practical employability skills, including CV preparation and interview techniques. Students gained advice on how to present their skills and experience effectively and make a positive impression when applying for placement opportunities.

The induction gave students the opportunity to ask questions, understand what will be expected of them and start preparing for their transition from the classroom into the workplace.

A big thank you to Paula Arkell for taking the time to speak with our students and support them as they begin their T Level journey.
