Mayor of Harrow Inspires Adult ESOL Students at Harrow Arts Centre

On 21st October, Stanmore College’s Adult ESOL students were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Anjana Patel, to their class at Harrow Arts Centre. The visit was a wonderful opportunity for learners to meet and speak with Harrow’s 73rd Mayor.

Councillor Patel’s warmth and encouragement perfectly reflected her theme for the year: kindness, caring and respect. She listened as students shared their personal journeys and experiences of learning English, praising their dedication and progress.

Many learners said they felt inspired by her story and her commitment to strengthening community through education and inclusion. The visit created a meaningful and memorable experience — motivating students to continue building their confidence, communication skills, and connections within the Harrow community.
