Stop Food Waste Day at Stanmore

T Level Students Join Forces for Sustainability on Stop Food Waste Day

On 30 April, our T Level Accounting, T Level Engineering and T Level Business students had the privilege of welcoming Kim Ying Choi and Adam Cherkawi, respected Harrow Council advocates for environmental sustainability and zero-waste practices. The event marked our College’s observance of Stop Food Waste Day.

In celebration of Stop Food Waste Day, our campus put a spotlight on sustainability efforts that make a real impact. Students and staff came together to promote smarter recycling habits, reduce single-use plastics, and most importantly; cut down on food waste. From compost bins in the Cafeteria and other dining areas to class lessons on meal planning and food preservation, the College is taking active steps toward a greener future.

The speaker delivered an engaging and informative talk on the importance of food waste, recycling, and sustainability endeavours, sharing valuable insights and practical strategies for reducing food waste in our daily lives. Students, faculty, and staff who attended left inspired and better equipped to contribute to a more sustainable future.

It’s fantastic that our Work Placement Team and subject teachers are putting in so much effort to create enriching learning experiences! Relevant talks and workshops not only make learning more enjoyable but also help students connect classroom knowledge with real-world applications.
