Enrichment
Enrich your experience...
Life as a student at Stanmore College entails much more than lessons, exams and coursework. The college is a place where you can make friends, engage in new hobbies, contribute to the community and enjoy activities and events.
Participating in a wide range of experiences and opportunities will make your time at Stanmore much more enjoyable. You will meet new people, while also enhancing your CV to help you when completing applications for university and/or employment.
Sport and fitness
Sport and fitness activities give students the chance to be active and healthy while at college. The programme runs throughout the week and is supported by an extensive range of sport sessions. Activities in the sports hall include inter-group competitions open to all students, while also participating in individual or team events at local, county and national level. Students have access to the fully equipped fitness room and a range of non-competitive exercises such as zumba and dance circuit classes.
Support for development
As well as studying for your main qualification, you will have an opportunity to broaden your experience and enhance your personal development through a variety of recreational activities and additional qualifications.
Higher education institutions and employers look favourably at students who have used the opportunity to participate in enrichment activities, and at Stanmore, you are also given the chance to gain additional qualifications which include:
- CoPE (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness)
- Fitness instructor course
- Computing and IT skills
- EPQ (Extended Project Qualification)
- SEQ.
Stanmore College offers students fantastic opportunities to get involved in a range of fun activities to pursue new interests or simply pass the time. At the start of each academic year, Freshers Fayre is held where students can find out about all the extra-curricular activities and support available. Some of these are student led non sporting opportunities such as Photography, dance, games club, art club and karaoke. Students can create new clubs/societies of their choice or interests.
