Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Stanmore College is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information -WCAG 1.1.1 – Non-text Content (A). We plan to add text alternatives for all images by May 2025. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
- Some of our images should be marked as decorative This makes it confusing for screen readers to know whether the image is of value to the content on not – WCAG 1.1.1 – Non-text Content (A). We plan to ensure all decorative images are marked as such by July 205.
- Some of our text areas on forms do not have descriptions – WCAG 3.3.2 – Labels or Instructions (A). This makes it hard for uses of assisted technologies to know what the area is for. We plan to address all forms and text area descriptions by July 2025.
Disproportionate burden
Our website has been designed by a creative agency following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 standards. We have received reassurance from the agency that the website meets these standards. However, conducting a formal accessibility audit is beyond our current financial capacity.
Internally, we have followed the Doing a basic accessibility check guidelines (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/doing-a-basic-accessibility-check-if-you-cant-do-a-detailed-one/doing-a-basic-accessibility-check-if-you-cant-do-a-detailed-one ) to carry out a basic accessibility audit, and we have not identified any issues. To the best of our knowledge and abilities, we have ensured that the website complies with accessibility standards.
We remain committed to continuous improvement and will make reasonable adjustments where possible to enhance accessibility. If you encounter any accessibility issues, please contact us so we can address them effectively.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to old policy documents.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
Live video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 01/02/2025. It was last reviewed on 03/03/2025.
This website was last tested on 30/11/2025 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
We conducted an internal accessibility audit of the website using Lighthouse, an automated tool that evaluates web accessibility based on WCAG 2.2 standards. Our overall score was 95%, indicating a strong level of compliance. The audit helped us identify areas for improvement, including missing text alternatives for images, improperly marked decorative images, and form fields without clear descriptions. We are actively working on addressing these issues and ensuring that all future content meets accessibility best practices.
