Course Content

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is a part time 8 weeks course which will give you an opportunity to improve your English. You will also develop skills in maths. The qualification is designed to help you increase independence, as well as develop the language skills you need for everyday life, employment, and further studies.

You will develop skills in Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing.

The course is aimed at adults, who are resident in the UK and need to improve their English so can develop the language skills they need for everyday life, employment, and further studies.

Content includes:

  • English (Speaking and listening, Reading, and Writing) Pre- Entry – Level 2
  • Managing Money

 

Course Outcomes

  • Award in ESOL Skills for Life (Speaking and listening, Reading, and Writing)
  • Progress to part time course next September
  • Help you get a part time or full -time employment
  • Talk to teachers, employers and officials and understand the customs of the UK

 

Entry requirements  

  • Resident in the UK
  • Assessed at interview

 

Assessment

You will have exams and gain a recognised qualification from the English Speaking Board (ESB)

Dates & Location

Harrow Arts Centre: 24th March 2025 for 8 weeks

3 days a week / 7.5 hours a week

Morning: 9:15am to 11:45am  or  Afternoon 12:30pm to 3:00pm

 

Stanmore College Site: 24th March 2025 for 12 weeks

Saturdays: 09:00am to 5:00pm  or   Evenings (twice a week): 5:15pm to 9:00pm

 

 

Please note: 

Before you can enrol on an ESOL course you need to attend an assessment to determine your level. Your level of English will be determined by your previous qualifications in ESOL, as well as a reading and writing assessment and an interview. You need to book an appointment by calling Reception on 0208 420 7700.
