Course Content
On this one-year practical course, students will develop vocational practical skills and will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required for the technical services area of the engineering industry.
The core units focus on working safely and effectively in engineering, interpreting and using engineering information and mathematics for engineering technicians. The other units cover areas such as applied electrical and mechanical science for engineering, electronic devices and communication applications and selecting engineering materials. Learning is done by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.
Course Outcomes
Student needs to complete 8 units to gain this BTEC Diploma in Engineering.
Progression
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering.
Entry Requirements
GCSE grade 4(C) in Maths and 3 other GCSEs at grade (D) or above including English and science or engineering.
Assessment
Assessment is carried out by completing portfolio based assignments and tests. All assignments are internally assessed. A summative unit grade can be awarded a pass, merit or distinction.
Equipment
Student will need a text book, stationery, calculator, writing paper, folder etc for the organisation of their work.
