What is Access to Higher Education ?

The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. If you would like to go to university but left school without the qualifications you need, then an Access to HE course could be for you.

Most Access to HE courses are delivered in further education colleges in England and Wale and are available in a range of different subjects such as nursing, computing, engineering, teacher training, pharmacy and science. There is no upper-age limit for Access to HE courses, and many don't have any formal entry requirements apart from English and maths.

To find out more about our access to higher education courses, select one of the respective subjects or, if you would rather speak to a member of staff, call us now on 020 8420 7700.

Katie told us “I now have confidence to complete assignments, do exams and use Harvard referencing. The course taught me how to manage my time effectively and gain a better understanding of nursing within a multidisciplinary team.”

Nilab Sahaliemi decided to switch to a career in pharmacy. Commenting on her Access course, Nilab said “I found the Access to Pharmacy course challenging at the start but teachers were really supportive. I’ve been offered places at both my top and insurance choice universities i.e. Kings and Hertfordshire to study for a 4-year Masters’ Degree in Pharmacy.

Doing the Access course saved me additional years at university that would have been costly and a longer process. I highly recommend it.”
