Summer Works
While many of our students and staff have been away enjoying the summer break, our campus has been far from quiet. As part of the DfE-funded new build project, delivered by Bouygues UK, a programme of essential summer works has been taking place behind the scenes.
These works are a crucial step in preparing for the handover of Phase 1 of the new building and ensuring our existing facilities remain fully operational.
What’s been happening?
- Work is underway to connect new gas supplies to Hawthorn and Larch, helping to future-proof these buildings.
- The water supply is being prepared, ready to switch over during the handover period.
- Additional network cabling is currently being installed across the site, ensuring the new building will be fully connected.
Although these upgrades may not always be visible, they represent vital progress. By carrying out this work during the summer, disruption has been kept to a minimum while ensuring everything is in place to support the next stages of the project.
Look ahead
With handover on the horizon, we are entering an exciting stage of the development. The summer works mean we are now well prepared to welcome the next chapter in the college’s growth, as the new building starts to take shape alongside our existing campus.
