Students visit Powerday for Enrichment Day
A Step Toward Future Careers: Stanmore College students had an inspiring and educational experience during their enrichment day visit to Powerday.
On June 17th, our students had the unique opportunity to engage directly with Powerday’s ground team as well as key industry partners including Quinn, Morrisroe, Durkan, Hill Group, Bouygues UK, and Turmec.
Throughout the day, students connected with facilitators from each organisation, gaining valuable insights into progression routes, employability prospects, and apprenticeship opportunities within the construction and engineering sectors. These discussions helped broaden students’ understanding of potential career paths and the skills required to succeed.
A highlight of the visit was an eye-opening site tour where students learned first-hand about Powerday’s innovative approach to recycling construction waste. This immersive experience not only showcased sustainable practices but also emphasised the importance of environmental responsibility in modern construction.
Engineering students were given the chance to participate in an employer-led project, providing a practical application of their skills and a taste of real-world challenges faced in the industry. This enrichment day was, in every sense, uplifting and empowering for the students, offering them both inspiration and direction for their future careers.
Stanmore College extends heartfelt thanks to all the amazing employers who contributed their time and expertise, playing a vital role in supporting students on their career journeys. Last, but not the least, we give our thanks to the teaching and work placement teams who are supporting students to connect theory with practical work experience.
