Shaping the IT Leaders of Tomorrow at QA Boot Camp

Over the half-term break, students eager to build their ITC careers joined a three-day QA Skills and Careers Boot Camp (28–30 October). The intensive programme offered hands-on experience and practical insights designed to strengthen their technical and employability skills.

The programme offered a balance of technical learning and career-focused guidance, giving participants an insight into real-world applications across the ITC sector.

  • Day 1: focused on Software Development and IT Support, where students were introduced to HTML and CSS coding, learning how websites are structured and maintained.
  • Day 2: covered Data Analysis and Digital Marketing, allowing learners to explore how data informs decision-making and how marketing campaigns are developed and measured.
  • Day 3: concluded with Career Planning and CV Creation, where students worked on building professional CVs, identifying their transferable skills, and preparing for future QA apprenticeship opportunities.

Participants described the boot camp as “comprehensive and career-focused”, appreciating the opportunity to connect classroom learning with industry practice. They highlighted the sessions on CV development, portfolio building, and the use of creative tools such as Canva as especially beneficial. Teamwork and collaboration played a strong role throughout the event, with students engaging in group challenges and scenario-based activities that mirrored real workplace experiences.

Feedback from learners was highly positive. Students expressed a desire for more interactive PowerPoint lessons, introductory tutorials on creative tools, and competitions with meaningful rewards such as vouchers or tech prizes to boost engagement and motivation.

The QA Skills and Careers Boot Camp not only strengthened the learners’ technical knowledge but also enhanced their confidence, communication, and readiness for employment. Many participants have already begun updating their CVs and exploring apprenticeship opportunities through QA.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment to fostering employability, innovation, and lifelong learning, ensuring students are equipped for success in the fast-paced digital sector.
