Progress Update on the New College Building

The new college building continues to make impressive progress, with key construction milestones achieved both inside and out. As we move into the final stages, students, staff, and the wider community can expect to see the project rapidly taking shape.

Exterior Progress: The Building Takes Form

Recent works have allowed the external appearance of the new campus building to move forward significantly.

  • A previously challenging trench on the north side has now been filled, allowing cladding installation to resume.
  • On the south side, a design issue has been resolved, clearing the way for the finishing touches to the façade.

These updates mean the structure is now beginning to reflect how the completed building will look when students walk onto campus next year.

Interior Developments: From Structure to Spaces

Inside the building, rooms and shared spaces are beginning to resemble their final form:

  • A fully finished demo classroom has been completed. This model room helps the project team identify improvements before rolling out the final design across the rest of the building.
  • Ceiling painting is nearly finished, with scaffolding in the stairwells enabling work at height to continue safely.
  • Floor preparation is underway on the first and second floors, supported by the installation of temporary heaters to help materials cure properly.

These finishing stages mark an exciting shift from construction to interior fit-out.

Kitchen and Canteen: A New Hub for Students

The new kitchen area is taking shape at pace:

  • The walk-in fridge is now installed.
  • The remainder of the catering equipment has begun arriving on-site ready for installation.

This space will form the heart of the new canteen — a modern, bright, and functional area for students and staff to enjoy.

Roofing and Sustainability

Both the roof structure and the solar panels are now fully installed.
This achievement not only marks a major structural milestone but also ensures the building will benefit from renewable energy as part of the college’s sustainability commitments.

What’s Happening Next

Looking ahead to December, several key activities are planned:

  • Installation of toilet cubicles across the building
  • Continued work in stairwells
  • Kitchen fit-out
  • Classroom finishing and early snagging based on lessons learned from the demo room

These next steps will further advance the building toward completion, with each update bringing the college closer to opening the doors of a modern, purpose-built space designed for teaching, learning, and collaboration.
