Course Content

It is broadly equivalent to four GCSEs and in Applied Science covers the relevant Key Stage 4 programme of study for science.

Course Outcomes

Developing skills and knowledge related to the science process which is a 60 credit course, three of which are mandatory and others are specialist units.

Mandatory Units:

  • Chemistry and our Earth
  • Energy and our universe
  • Biology and our environment

Progression

Students may be able to progress onto the BTEC Extended Diploma, Certificate or Award in Applied Science in related science/technology areas. You may also be able to progress into employment.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSE's Grade 3 or above, including a grade 4 in English and maths.

Assessment

Exam Board: Edexcel

Continuous assessment of course works, all of which need to be passed. There are on-line tests and exams for functional skills.
