Course outline

Functional Skills Maths Entry Level 2 is a great course for you to develop your Maths skills and gain and recognised qualification. This course and the skills within are essential for work, college, higher education and day-to-day life. Our Functional Skills Maths course will help you improve your skills and prepare you to pass your tests. 

Entry requirements  

English and Maths qualification at any level but this will be assessed on interview. 

You must be aged 19+ to apply for this course.

  • Students: Those preparing for academic studies or vocational training. Yes, maths is needed in all vocational areas. 
  • Non-native English Speakers People aiming to navigate daily life more effectively. Please note, this will be assessed at interview. If Functional Skills Maths is not appropriate, we will support you to join our ESOL and Multiply courses. 

There is a course for everyone! 

Course content 

  • Number Skills: 
    • Counting, reading, writing, and ordering numbers up to 100.
    • Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
    • Understanding and using fractions and decimals. 
  • Measure, Shape, and Space: 
    • Using common measures (length, weight, capacity, time, temperature).
    • Recognising and using properties of shapes.
    • Understanding and using position, direction, and movement. 
  • Handling Data: 
    • Collecting and recording data.
    • Representing data using charts, tables, and diagrams.
    • Interpreting data to make simple decisions. 

These levels build on each other, gradually increasing in complexity and depth.  

How will you be assessed? 

Internally assessed via in class assessments followed by formal examinations.
