Access to HE

Access to Higher Education (HE) Diplomas are specially designed Level 3 qualifications for adults who want to progress to university but do not have traditional entry qualifications such as A Levels.

These intensive, one-year programmes provide you with the subject-specific knowledge needed to prepare for your chosen degree, alongside essential academic skills such as essay writing, research, referencing, and critical thinking. They also award UCAS points to help you meet university entry requirements and progress with confidence into higher education.

Access to HE Diplomas offer a supportive and structured route into higher education, opening doors to degrees in areas such as nursing, healthcare, social sciences, business, and more. Whether you’re returning to study after a break, changing career paths, or aiming to fulfil a long-term ambition, an Access course provides the skills, confidence, and qualifications you need to take the next step.

Fatjon, Access to Engineering

“I chose Stanmore College because it was one of the few colleges offering Access Courses for individuals over 18 and was the only one willing to accommodate my late enrolment. The supportive teachers and excellent course, even during the challenges of COVID-19, played a key role in my success. My time at Stanmore built my confidence, strengthened my skills in mathematics, engineering, and IT, and prepared me for university. After completing my Access Course, I received a scholarship to study Mechanical Engineering at Queen Mary University of London, where I will graduate in summer 2024. I’m incredibly grateful to Stanmore College for shaping my future and helping me achieve my goals.”
