Bringing GRC to Life for T Level Students
Through strengthened industry insight, our Accounting and Finance T Level students are applying Governance, Risk and Compliance knowledge to real world contexts, building the skills and confidence needed for successful placements.
Our Work Placement Coordinator Ruhina and Accounting Educator Sharona remain committed to ensuring Stanmore College students gain meaningful, industry-aligned experiences that reflect the realities of today’s accounting and finance profession.
On 5 February, they attended the Group Industry Placement for Finance and Business Administration workshop, which focused on developing expertise in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), a critical and rapidly evolving area across modern finance roles
The session provided valuable insight into how GRC operates across large corporations, SMEs and freelance consultancies. Discussions explored governance frameworks, risk management strategies, regulatory compliance, ethical practice and internal controls, all fundamental to maintaining organisational integrity and financial accountability.
A key focus of the workshop was aligning current industry practice with T Level specifications. By strengthening this connection, staff can further refine curriculum delivery and ensure students are fully prepared for high-quality industry placements that meet employer expectations.
Investing in Continued Professional Development
With the support of the Education and Training Foundation (ETF), Stanmore College staff continue to engage in industry-focused Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This investment ensures their knowledge remains current and responsive to the evolving demands of the accounting and finance sector.
By engaging directly with industry expertise, staff can translate professional practice into classroom learning, enriching students’ understanding and strengthening the relevance of their T Level studies.
This ongoing commitment to professional development enhances curriculum quality, supports meaningful industry placements, and ultimately strengthens students’ progression, employability and career readiness.
