Students Strengthen Their Voice During Anti-Bullying Awareness Week
On 18th November, our T Level Accounting students took part in a session focused Anti-Bullying Awareness Week. The session explored how bullying impacts personal wellbeing and the professionalism, quality, and integrity of workplace environments.
Students engaged in discussions, group activities, and visual learning tasks in correlation to Anti-bullying. They explored real workplace scenarios and analysed how negative behaviours could harm accuracy, productivity, and team cohesion within the accounting sector. As part of the learning, students discovered that bullying in an accounting workplace could lead to several serious consequences, including:
- Reduced accuracy in work:
Stress and intimidation lead to mistakes, hesitation, and compromised attention to detail. This can increase the likelihood of inaccuracies. - Higher staff turnover:
Poor workplace cultures drive skilled employees away, resulting in hiring difficulties and reduced organisational knowledge. - Lower productivity:
A decline in morale when team members feel unsafe or undervalued can slow workflows and reduce overall performance. - Higher risk of errors or misconduct.
A lack of confidence or disengagement can make individuals less likely to ask questions or report concerns, increasing the risk of compliance issues. - Damage to team culture and client trust
Poor professional relationships can weaken team communication and may undermine client confidence in the workplace.
Throughout the week, students demonstrated maturity and strong engagement, working together to explore how a respectful, supportive work environment protects individual wellbeing and strengthens ethical practice and professional standards.
Our Accounting lecturer reflected on the week’s learning: “The students showed real insight. They recognised that bullying doesn’t just impact individuals, it weakens trust, accuracy, and the overall culture of an accounting team. Seeing them discuss how they can contribute to healthier workplaces in the future was incredibly encouraging.”
This learning activities reinforced that bullying has no place in education, the workplace, or the accounting profession. Students left the session with a clearer understanding of how they can contribute to a positive and inclusive culture, both in their classrooms today and in their future careers.
They concluded the week embracing the slogan: “Make a Noise About Bullying; Speak Up, Support Others, Stay Professional.”
