T Level Early Years students visit Hillview Nursery, Harrow

Our T Level Early Years students visit HIllview Nursery in Harrow which has a special unit for children with additional needs.

As part of their ongoing learning about inclusive education, a group of students recently visited Hillview Nursery School in Harrow that specialises in supporting children with additional needs. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to observe first-hand how early years settings can offer tailored support to ensure every child thrives.

The students spent the morning at Hillview Nursery, which features a dedicated unit for children with a range of additional needs. The visit began with a tour of the facilities, followed by the chance to observe a live therapy session. This gave students insight into how therapeutic approaches are woven into the daily routine.

They also had the opportunity to meet with a speech and language therapist, who explained the strategies used to help young children develop their communication skills, and how staff work closely with families and external professionals to create individualised support plans.

One of the most powerful moments of the day came when a parent spoke about their personal journey. He shared his experience of having a child with additional needs, the challenges they’ve faced, and the positive impact Hillview has had on both his child and the wider family. His honest reflections highlighted the importance of a supportive and understanding early years environment.

The visit concluded with a Q&A session, allowing students to ask questions and reflect on what they had seen and learned. This eye-opening experience left many students feeling inspired and more aware of the vital role inclusive education plays in helping every child reach their potential.
