Student needs to complete 6 units to gain this OCR Technical Diploma in Engineering.

Course Outcomes

Engineering is fundamental to our modern economy and key to driving change and innovation. The OCR technical engineering qualifications reflect this and provide students with a solid foundation for understanding and applying this subject in their future working lives. Students develop the fundamental skills and knowledge required by the engineering industry and will explore design, engineering in more detail, preparing them for further study, apprenticeship or work in the sector.
Learning is done by completing projects, exams and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.


The core units focus on:
Unit 1 Fundamentals of mechanical, electrical/ electronic and fluid power engineering
Unit 2 Application of engineering principles
Unit 3 Mechanical engineering – machine operations
Unit 4 Electrical, electronic engineering operations and application
Unit 5 Engineering systems control - operations and application
Unit 6 Develop and present engineering 2D and 3D design solutions

Progression

T Level Technical Qualification in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing

Entry Requirements

GCSE grade 4(C) in Maths and 3 other GCSEs at grade (D) or above including English and science or engineering. 

Assessment

Assessment is carried out by completing portfolio-based assignments and two units are externally assessed. All assignments are internally assessed. A summative unit grade can be awarded a pass, merit, distinction and distinction*

Equipment

Student will need a textbook, stationery, calculator, writing paper, folder etc for the organisation of their work.
