Kareema Hoque Achieving a D*D*D* in BTEC Business Level 3 as well as GCSE Maths and English, Kareema has been accepted to Queen Mary University. She has chosen to continue with Business Studies and is now undertaking a BSc in Business Management. We asked her what she enjoyed most whilst studying at Stanmore College. “I enjoyed being taught by various teachers and connecting with them through my lessons as it had helped me to gain confidence and interact more on social/economic issues that revolve around the business world. This has helped me to communicate well with my peers and other students in the campus.” Ayanna Ayanna completed her level 3 Art & Design Extended Diploma at Stanmore College and secured a place at her first choice university in Nottingham to undertake a BA degree in Product Design. Ayanna, who intends to become an innovative Product Designer, told us “at first I was nervous about going to college as I went from a private school; I really enjoyed the projects at college; each one was more challenging which was great preparation for university.” 8If so, we would love to hear from you and share your achievements. He is moving onto to a Mechanical Engineering Degree which includes a placement year. Ashmit Ashmit completed a Games Design an Animation Creative Media study programme at Stanmore after which he progressed to study a BA Honours degree at Brunel University. George George completed a level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport at College. He then undertook an apprenticeship HND in Leisure Management and now has a full time job in sport and is also a qualified personal trainer with his own clients. Robert Lulian Griga Robert told us “I matured mentally, developed good social skills, built lasting friendships and learned so much about Engineering. I’m looking forward to starting my Aerospace Engineering BEng.” Robert also finished at Stanmore in Summer 2021. Art and Design Studio Our top-floor Art and Design studio is flooded with natural light and designed to the specifications of art professionals. We have fully accessible toilet facilities and well trained staff to support those with additional needs. £1.2m invested on the campus over the last 3 years on the latest IT and learning facilities. 10Latest Classroom Resources The Kitchen @ Stanmore Lounge Learning Centre - a Great Space for Studying! All classrooms have interactive white boards allowing teachers to incorporate a range of resources in their teaching. Students have the option to use college computers and tablets, which are connected via Wi-Fi and printers. Social Learning Centre We have a Kitchen @ Stanmore offering a selection of hot and cold meals, snacks and salads, including meat, fish and vegetarian options. We aim to offer suitable choices for all cultures, as well as those with dietary and health needs. This area is open throughout the day during term time. In addition, a number of vending machines provide snacks when required. We even have Costa coffee! When not in class, you can relax with friends in the lounge area. This is equipped with a plasma screen playing music, computers to browse the web and comfortable seating. You will have access to print and electronic resources which include 20,000 books, DVDs, e-material, use of printing and photocopying services, daily newspapers and the latest software packages. We have exceptional facilities for Science, Technology, Engineering and maths (STEM). Our STEM centre consists of two floors in our Willow building where you will be taught in newly refurbished laboratories, IT suites and engineering workshops. Our STEM facilities and teachers are so good that the College was chosen to host one of only ten nationwide Big Bang science events. It’s a great way to keep fit, socialise, meet new people and make new friends! The Gym instructors are very helpful and always willing to give you advice and guidance when needed.” Zainab Al – Majmai – “The Enrichment programme offers much more than just sports! There is a lot of clubs that I can join and meet people with similar interests to mine. I have a big passion for art and wanted to start up an art club, the Enrichment team was very helpful with this and I now have a regular art club of 10 – 15 students per session!” A Student's Perspective Sport and Fitness Students have access to the fully equipped Fitness Suite and a range of non-competitive exercise sessions such as boxing and badminton.
