The Early Years Practitioner Diploma Level 2 is designed to provide you with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to work in early years settings. Throughout the course, you will learn about child development, safeguarding, health and safety, and how to support children’s learning and development in a range of environments. The course covers key areas such as promoting positive behaviour, working with parents and carers, and the role of the early years practitioner in fostering children’s wellbeing. You will also gain practical experience by working in an early years setting, allowing you to apply your learning in a real-world environment. The course includes units such as the principles of development, supporting positive relationships, providing a safe and healthy environment, and understanding the importance of play. You will be assessed through a combination of practical assignments, written work, and observations in the workplace.

Entry Requirements *You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths, or have completed a Level 1 course. Additionally, you will be required to complete English and maths at GCSE level alongside the course.

Assessment All units will be internally assessed using various methods, including direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments, or tasks set by CACHE. Some learning outcomes will require assessment in a real work environment. A total of 250 placement hours is compulsory for this qualification.
