Watford Football Club’s Coach inspires students 27/11/2014

The Head Coach of Watford FC under 16s revealed the ins and outs of how Bayer Munich plays football to Stanmore College students.

Louis Lancaster, who has previously worked for Brentford FC and Portsmouth FC, visited the College on Thursday, 27 November and gave an inspiring and practical football coaching session to pupils on the vocational sports course.

He gave a presentation based on Bayer Munich's performance and how they have become footballing world champions by analysing their tactics. Louis used terms such as 'robbery', which describes taking the football from the opposition with pace, and 'suffocation', whereby the team work together to suffocate players so they have no room to move forward, to describe the German champion's performance showing just how robust the sport can be!

This visit was eagerly anticipated by the students who play for the Wealdstone Youth Football Club following their defeat in the FA youth cup last week. Although it was the furthest the team had gone in 10 years, they were hoping to get to the finals. However, they are still in with a chance of winning the Middlesex county cup and league which are currently being played.
