Course Content

The is designed to provide an opportunity for those with an interest in art, design and media to explore materials, methods and processes that support many art, design and media activities, and to begin to develop related skills.

The Level 1 Award and Diploma in Art, Design & Media will provide students with an introduction to art, design and media, enabling them to both re-engage with education and acquire the requisite knowledge, skills and understanding to progress to further education or employment within the creative industries.

Course Outcomes

Achievement of a L1 Diploma in Creative Media Production. Equivalent to GCSE grades 3, 2 and 1

A range of activities might include: Research activity Design development exercises and experimentation Exploration of traditional media, materials and techniques Exploration of print-based media, materials and techniques Exploration of lens-based media, materials and techniques Use of a range of 2D formats and techniques used in art, design and media Digital presentations and blogs Educational visits Library and web-based research Referencing Discussion groups Individual and group presentations Peer and self-assessment.

Progression

Successful completion of the course can lead to progression on to UAL Level 2 Creative media or UAL Level 2 Art and Design

Entry Requirements

4 GCSE grade 2’s and a portfolio Art/Media work

Assessment

The unit will be internally assessed and verified through students’ portfolios of evidence against the unit outcomes and assessment criteria.
