Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Business at Stanmore College
Course Content
To be awarded the BTEC L2 certificate in Business, learners are required to successfully complete 8 units. Two of these units will be exams.
Unit 1: Enterprise in the Business World (exam)
Unit 2: Finance for Business
Unit 4: Principles of Customer Service
Unit 5: Sales and Personal Selling
Unit 7: Providing Business Support
Unit 8: Recruitment, Selection and Employment
Unit 9: Principles of Marketing (exam)
Unit 10: Using Business Documentation
25% of the qualification is externally assessed; Pearson sets and marks these exam assessments. We will support you and prepare you for these exams, to develop your confidence and independence.
You can achieve a grade ranging from Level 2 PP to Level 2 DD.
Learners who do not achieve at Level 2 may achieve a grade of Level 1 Pass.
Learners whose level of achievement is below Level 1 will receive an Unclassified (U) result.
Course Outcomes
The aims of the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Business are to:
inspire and enthuse learners to consider a career in the Business sector
give learners the opportunity to gain broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the Business sector
support progression to Level 3 qualifications in Business, or to an Apprenticeship
give learners the potential opportunity, in due course, to enter employment in a wide range of job roles.
engage learners to take responsibility for their own learning and to develop skills that are essential for the modern-day workplace. These skills include: team working; working from a prescribed brief; working to deadlines; presenting information effectively; and accurately completing administrative tasks and processes.
Progression
There is a clear progression route to a Level 3 course or an Apprenticeship at Stanmore College
Entry Requirements
This qualification is intended primarily for learners in the 14–19 age group who wish to gain an introductory understanding of business.
You must have four GCSE grades at 3 or above. This must include English and Maths.
We also expect you to:

Attend all lessons on time
Work independently
Take part in work experience
And engage in extracurricular activities
Assessment
The BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Business includes two externally-assessed exam units. This will help learners as they progress either into higher levels of vocational learning or to related academic qualifications.
The remaining units are internally assessed. Internal assessment allows learners to develop a wider range of skills and provides evidence towards meeting the unit assessment criteria. Assessments would include role play, practical performance, verbal presentations, essays and reports.
