The Board of Governors at the College currently has 18 members, including the Principal, student and staff members. The rest of the Board is made up of external governors who come from different sectors of the College community, including:

Rabbi Gideon Schulman Chair of the Board of Governors and Chair of the Governance Committee
Gideon Pic Gideon is Managing Director of a Home Care agency, restauranteur and COO of a Corporate Services Company delivering accountancy, HR, financial and payroll solutions. Gideon brings to the board expertise gained as an International HR Director and has decades of experience of managing companies and leading teams. Gideon is passionate about using his skills, knowledge and energy to support community organisations. In addition to his role at Stanmore College he is a Trustee of Canine Partners and acts in an advisory capacity for Langdon. He has also served as a trustee for the MS Society and Shift MS, and disability and HR advisory boards for Jewish Care. Gideon has Rabbinic ordination, holds an MA in HR and is a Fellow of the CIPD, CMI and FInstLM.
Dr Arthur Terrence David Butland OBE Vice Chair of the Board of Governors and Chair of the Remuneration Committee
TB Pic Dr Arthur Terrence David Butland OBE, known as Dr Terry Butland, is a physicist, who has worked at very senior levels in the British nuclear industry, and in British higher education, becoming Deputy Vice Chancellor and Deputy Chief Executive of Middlesex University. He has a BA (Honours) Natural Sciences (physics) degree from Cambridge University and a PhD from Bath University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, a Chartered Physicist and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Commerce, and has an honorary degree from Middlesex University. He was awarded an OBE by the Queen in the 2012 New Year Honours List for his services to higher education.
Sarbdip Noonan Principal
Sarbdip Pic Sarbdip was brought up, went to school and has spent most of her working life in colleges in London and this has given her great empathy and understanding of the local communities where she works. She graduated with an Honours Degree in Combined Science in 1986, and obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education to become a qualified teacher the following year. In 2007, she achieved a Diploma in Management Studies. Her professional career covers the full span of 11 years to Adult education and training, encompassing both the School and Further Education (FE) sectors, along with working as a Local Authority Officer for Essex County Council. She has worked as a science teacher and Head of Department in schools and colleges, as an Executive Director of Pre-16 schools, a Vice Principal in three colleges, and became Principal of Stanmore College in 2016. She also carried out college inspections for 15 years as a part-time Ofsted Inspector. As a mother of three children, she is very aware of the challenges that face all young people in the twenty-first century.
Sundeep Bhandari Chair of the Audit Committee
Sundeep pic Sundeep, is currently INED with PNBIL UK, Chairman of the Board Risk Committee. He is a Trustee with the charity, 15billion-EBP, which delivers work and career related programmes with schools, employers and young people. Furthermore, as Governor Stanmore he Chairs the Audit and Assurance Committee. A Mentor with Virgin Start- up supporting young entrepreneurs as well as providing advise to small businesses. Born in N.Ireland, graduated from the University of Ulster, an MBA from City University London, holds a Diploma in Financial Services and is a Certified Internal Auditor. He previously enjoyed both a domestic and international career in Financial Services, working in London, Singapore, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Dubai. Formerly, Co-Head of Wholesale Banking South Asia and North Asia, Global Head of Internal Audit and Group Chief Credit Officer. Sundeep has overseen culturally diverse global teams and supported community engagement programs and formerly a guest speaker at HKUST MBA on Ethics and Management Dilemmas.
Rohit Bhatia Governor
Rohit Pic Rohit Bhatia is a member of the Resources committee. Currently Rohit works as a strategy consultant at Kaiser Associates, and is a qualified chartered accountant, with previous accounting experience at PwC. Born in North-West London, Rohit read Economics at University College London (UCL) and is keen to use his skills to support local communities. Apart from Stanmore College, Rohit has volunteered at St.Mungo's and won the Wings of Hope Achievement Award.
Jan Doust Vice Chair of the Curriculum an Quality Committee
Jan Pic Jan originally trained as a secondary school teacher and taught in schools in inner London, initially teaching PE and then children with special educational needs. After serving for 3 years as Head of SEN (SENCO) in a secondary school she moved to a post in the Local Authority as an advisory teacher working cross-phase supporting schools with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. She then held various management posts in the LA learning support services for special educational needs before becoming the borough’s Inspector for Special Educational Needs. Jan’s last post was working as a Deputy Director for 10 years in Haringey Council. The majority of this time was served in the Children and Young People’s Service where she had responsibility for schools, early years, youth and all aspects of preventative work. She then spent 3 years leading the social programme within the Tottenham Regeneration Programme working across all age ranges and phases and the partnerships between statutory services, police, health and the voluntary sector.
Councillor Jean Lammiman Vice Chair of the Audit Committee
JL councillor Councillor Jean Lammiman was elected local Councillor for the Hatch End ward of the London Borough of Harrow in 1994, and was elected as Mayor of Harrow in May 2007. Her focus for her mayoralty was the community and in particular young people; she chose Teenage Cancer Trust as her charity. Over £50,000 was raised and 700 engagements undertaken. She continued this work as Cabinet Portfolio holder for Community and Culture on Harrow Council. Jean sits on a number of trusts/ governing bodies including RELATE London NW & Herts, Stanmore College, Harrow Association for Disabled People, Middlesex Guildhall Art Collection, Harrow Holocaust Memorial Day, and London New Year’s Day Parade. She is also proud to be Chairman of Governors of Shaftesbury High School for children with special needs which was awarded an ‘Outstanding’’ report by OFSTED. Jean combines her role in public life with work as an HR practitioner, academic researcher, author and business consultant.
Kate Parsley Governor
Kate Board Members Pic 2021 Kate is a public health manager with almost 20 years’ experience, having worked in 16 boroughs of London, in local authority, NHS and voluntary sector roles. She has also supported orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe and worked in HIV prevention and food security with the UN in Uganda.Kate currently leads the healthcare public health team in 2 London boroughs, covering diabetes, NHS Health Checks, Primary Care services, older people and quality assurance. She is the Tenant Representative on the Board of Ekaya Housing Association, is a Trustee for Advance, a charity focussed on supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse and in the criminal justice system. Kate was formerly a trustee for the Young Women’s Hub, as it transitioned from a youth service to an alternative education provider. Kate has a passion for young people’s and women’s rights.
Dr Simon Radford Governor
Simon Pic Dr Simon Radford works as a strategy and innovation consultant. Brought up in North London, Simon attended Peterhouse, Cambridge University, was awarded a scholarship to study for his Masters in Public Affairs at Brown University and was a Provost’s Fellow at the University of Southern California (USC) in Political Science and International Relations, where he completed his PhD. At USC he was awarded an Outstanding Teaching Award and published articles on both political science and also pedagogy. His research has been covered in the press, and he has also written extensively for The Observer, the New Statesman, Commonweal, and others. He has also written on economic and investment matters as part of his professional career, where he has worked as both an investment consultant- as a specialist in venture capital- and as a management consultant, where he has advised executives in the both the public and private sectors on issues around innovation and strategy. He is also active in his community: apart from his role as a Governor at Stanmore College, Simon has also served as a volunteer for both the Access Project and the Social Mobility Foundation, and has also been involved in local campaigns in both the UK and US. He lives with his wife and son in Barnet and is a proud season ticket holder at Brentford FC.
Shameem Rahman Governor
shameem pic Shameem currently manages the Internal Audit function at Eurostar. Having graduated in 2007, Shameem qualified as a chartered accountant and went on to work at a number of professional services firms including within the big four, at Deloitte. He has developed a risk management mindset and is able to offer expertise in managing large projects and ensuring risk is managed appropriately and strategically. He has a wealth of experience in education, charity and commercial sectors and combines these to generate better insight and results. In addition to his work at Stanmore College, Shameem is a trustee of a start-up charity and a mentor with the social mobility foundation.
Ramya Vadivel Governor
ramaya governors Experienced IT professional manager; internationally savvy(US, UK and Europe) technology senior professional with proven expertise in delivering and executing complex portfolio of digital transformation projects across business verticals( cloud, Internet of things) enabling growth for my business and value realization for customers. Armed with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer science, I continued to complete a Master of Business Administration. Then, she started her career with HCL and Capgemini and moved on to Microsoft to add flavours to my career. Manage a portfolio of Strategic accounts, all high-touch customers with complex needs; Define portfolio strategy and streamlined portfolio management within my team by planning and executing key customer initiatives which improve business growth, productivity and revenue.An active stem ambassador and participate in career days/ run events at local schools.
Carlton Downie Support Staff Governor
c.dowie picture board members Carlton currently works for Stanmore College as the Data Systems Development Manager, and is responsible for all in-house software and data reporting. He has been working for the college for 4 years, and takes great pride in the positive impact his work has on the operations of the organisation and the experience of our students. In his spare time he likes to tinker with cars, computers, and personal software projects.
Ramin Hashemian Academic Staff Governor
Ramin pic Ramin has worked at Stanmore College for a number of years and is a highly qualified teacher of English as a second language, (Cambridge CELTA; Cambridge DELTA; and an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language). He greatly enjoys facilitating learners’ acquisition of English as a second language incorporating cultural awareness. He is passionate about enriching students’ learning and the delivery of high-quality curriculums. As a very experienced IELTS lecturer, he has been successful in incorporating a new IELTS course in Stanmore College’s provision. He previously worked in the Film and TV industry after graduating from one of the UK’s top film schools. He produced his own independent drama and later produced a daily hour-long, English language, chat show in Dubai. In his spare time, Ramin is a keen photographer.
Amiah Hutton-Ebanks Student Governor
Amiah Pic Amiah is a year 2 student on the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering course. Her ambition is become one of the best black female Aerospace Engineers. At the age of sixteen she joined the NCS Youth Board leaders. Taking on that role, she worked with many people from many different cultures. Together, they helped the NCS project managers to decide on the tasks that the following year’s participants would take part in and enjoy. As well as her studies and being a student Governor, Amiah also has a role on the S.T.E.M ambassadors’ team within Stanmore College.
Azita Obaydi Student Governor
Azita Pic Azita is a Year 1 student on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science course. Azita’s ultimate goal is to become a Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychologist and ultimately one day open her own clinic. Whilst in high school, Azita was a Pastoral Prefect, Form Representative, and a Mentor. Within these roles, she was given the opportunity to utilize her interpersonal skills as well as acquire new skills and abilities working with peers and teachers of different cultures and backgrounds. Azita is a positive and enthusiastic individual and strives to learn something new every day! In addition to her studies and being a student Governor, she loves to bake and spend quality time with family (especially her two cheeky little nieces).
